The Town Hall museum Zierikzee is one of the eight cooperating museums on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland. In the Town Hall museum changing exhibitions and top pieces from the collection bring the past and present of monuments town Zierikzee and Schouwen-Duiveland to life.
A visit to the 450 year old building, once the thriving centre of Zierikzee, is an adventure. The oak wood roof cover structure, the period room and worn spiral stairs make the past tangible. During your journey through the impressive building, you will discover three themes inside - town, land and water - a thousand years of history of Zierikzee and its surroundings. Ship models, archaeological finds, silverware, old maps and paintings shown how this island developed through the course of the centuries.
A tour through the nearby Gravensteen, the oldest prison of Zeeland, makes your visit complete. Prisoners carved years and exceptional drawing in the oak wood walls.
